Pushapa Kamal Dahal’s appointment by PM Babu Ram Bhattarai’s cabinet as the Chairperson of Greater Lumbini Development National Directive Committee must step down.
Prachanda often reminded the Nepali people in the past with the conviction that 'power comes from the barrel of the gun.” His representation undermines the moral values of ahimsa, karuna and peace, the tenets of Buddhist peaceful coexistence.
The contentious issue of partisan divide of Lumbini above stakeholder’s right is unlawful as well as unconstitutional. If Pashupati Bikas Kosh has no Buddhist representation what is the rule of law which determines the representation of Buddhists by non Buddhists.
1) Puspakamal Dahal 'Prachanda'– ( Maoist)
2) Minendra Rijal-(Congress)
3) Mangal Siddhi Manandhar- (UML)
4) Hridesh Tripathi- ( TMDP)
5) Mohammad Wakil Musalman( MJFD)
Why is it when the government in the past has neglected the master plan of peace garden in Lumbini, developed by Japanese expert Kenjo Tange, it is now essential to politicize Lumbini without the representation of the stakeholders- the Buddhists.
The logic just does not add up to the facts. If Hindus are exclusively allowed to represent Pashupati Bikash Kosh than non Buddhists should refrain from representing the Buddhists’ in a secular state.
The dispute has not been resolved by Prachanda and his committee with the Buddhist representatives of the Council of Buddhist Concerns and any forged consensus as suggested in various news is false propaganda.
Buddha Dharma Samrakchan Sarokar Samonayan, Nepal remains committed with the five points demand and we will continue to struggle for the implementation of the secular rights of the Buddhists. This is a platform for all Buddhists.
Demands
1) Lumbini development area must be declared as an autonomous peace zone
2) Marauding of Buddhist cultural heritage, historical sites and archeological treasures by unlawful acts must be deemed as crime against cultural heritage and must be stopped immediately.
3) Lumbini, Bouddha, Swayambu, Namabuddha and other important Buddhist religious sites must be declared as “peace zone”.
4) A separate Ministry for the development of Buddhist concerns in relation to religion, culture and its resources must be established under the representation of Buddhists only.
5) All Buddhist organizations, committees and functions under the Government of Nepal for Buddhist concerns which is affiliated with party politics without our consent will not be honored by its stake holders.
If the government ignores the rightful demands of the Buddhists, we will be obliged to take this to the second level of protestation with far reaching consequences.
